Client: Banque Centrale Populaire — Central DC · Contract value: MAD 24,000,000

The Story

Banking systems are judged on what happens when something fails. The group needed its central data center rebuilt around a fabric that could lose a device without losing a service, and a backup site that takes over without waiting for a human decision.

What Did Netis Do

A Spine/Leaf fabric instead of a hierarchy. The data center network was rebuilt on a Spine/Leaf architecture around a pair of Cisco Nexus 5596 switches, with a paired Juniper SRX3600 firewall platform and a Cisco core and access campus LAN. East-west traffic no longer crosses a bottleneck.

Failover that does not wait for a decision. The backup site was equipped with a Nexus 5596 and two Nexus 2224 fabric extenders, and configured for automatic switchover — the failover path is exercised by design, not documented and hoped for.

The Results

  • Spine/Leaf fabric with no single core dependency
  • Automatic switchover to the backup data center
  • Central security platform on a redundant firewall pair
